Cruise industry honours brightest stars

The stand-out stars of the Australasian cruise community have been honoured at the 19th Annual Cruise Industry Awards in Sydney, where more than 500 people gathered to acknowledge the most dedicated members of the Australian and New Zealand travel trade. Held by Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia at The Star Sydney on Saturday February 15, the gala dinner and presentation night was hosted by actor and singer Tim Campbell and involved 19 awards for travel agencies and individuals from both sides of the Tasman.

Cruise visit signals a path to recovery on NSW South Coast

The Australian cruise industry has helped mark a milestone for recovering communities on the NSW South Coast as the 2,000-passenger Norwegian Jewel today became the first ship to visit the port of Eden since the recent bushfires. Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Managing Director Australasia Joel Katz said the ship's visit was an important step forward for the Australian tourism industry as it worked to support regional economies in many parts of the country.

A total of 71 finalists from across Australia and New Zealand have been chosen and will be in the running to win one of cruising's highest honours when the industry comes together for its biggest night of the year on February 15.

Busy year of cruise education for travel agents

Australian and New Zealand travel agents have finished a busy year of professional development, completing more than 23,000 online training modules in the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Learning Academy during 2019. The annual tally brings the total number of modules completed by CLIA members to more than 114,000 since the online training platform was launched in late 2014.

Shipping sector's US$5b plan to cut emissions

CLIA LIVE training events expanded for 2020

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia will expand its successful CLIA LIVE training program in 2020, introducing a two-day event on the Gold Coast in addition to six other cities in Australia and New Zealand. The event's debut on the Gold Coast follows the sell-out success of CLIA LIVE in 2019, with more than 650 tickets booked for events held in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Auckland, Brisbane and Melbourne.
