Australia ready for summer cruise renaissance

Australia's tourism industry is preparing for a resurgent summer cruise season, with 46 ships bringing economic opportunities back to ports around the country as part of a carefully managed cruising revival. Cruise industry celebrates first visit to Auckland

New Zealand's cruise industry has set a course for recovery, celebrating the arrival of the first international ship to sail into Auckland's Waitemata Harbour in more than two years. P+O Cruises' Pacific Explorer is in Auckland today as part of a South Pacific cruise from Sydney, becoming the first international vessel to carry passengers to New Zealand since the start of the pandemic.

Brisbane offers world-class facilities as it joins global cruise revival

Queensland has joined the global cruise revival with today's visit by P+O Australia's Pacific Explorer, the first cruise ship to berth at the new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal at Luggage Point. Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Managing Director Australasia Joel Katz said the ship's arrival signalled the start of a revival in an industry previously worth around $1 billion a year to the Queensland economy.
