CLIA Australasia Appoints Communications Director

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has announced the appointment of Jon Murrie as its new Communications Director.

Mr Murrie will report to CLIA Managing Director Joel Katz and will be responsible for CLIA’s communications and PR strategy across Australasia.

A trained journalist with more than 25 years’ experience in the travel industry, Mr Murrie has managed public relations strategies and communications campaigns for organisations across the sector. He was previously Managing Editor at Business Publishing Group, publisher of Travel Daily and Cruise Weekly, and prior to that was a Senior Consultant with MG Media Communications, a public relations agency specialising in travel and tourism.

CLIA Australasia Managing Director Joel Katz said Mr Murrie would be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications and PR strategies for CLIA across the region.

“This is a new dedicated position, designed to support our members even further as the cruise industry continues to expand in Australia and New Zealand. We’re looking forward to working with Jon as we intensify our focus on building cruising's reputation, influence and support among key stakeholder audiences,” Mr Katz said.
