Singapore Airlines backs cruising with CLIA partnership

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Singapore Airlines, who have thrown their support behind the cruise industry coming aboard as an Executive Partner.

SIA will also take on the role of Headline Sponsor at the 19th annual Cruise Industry Awards on 15 February 2020.

CLIA Australasia Managing Director Joel Katz said Singapore Airlines was a welcome addition to the association’s global cruise community.

“Singapore Airlines operates at the heart of a region that offers enormous potential for cruising, connecting the rapidly developing destinations of Asia with the thriving cruise markets of Australia and New Zealand,” Mr Katz said. “As the world’s number-one rated airline on TripAdvisor, two years running, Singapore Airlines is an exceptional partner for the cruise industry and an important link to cruise destinations across its global network.”

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr Philip Goh, said SIA was very pleased to support CLIA as well as become the Headline Sponsor of the Cruise Industry Awards.

“The cruising and airline industries are intertwined and this newly formed partnership allows us to enhance and further strengthen the close working relationship we’ve had with the cruising industry for many years,” Mr Goh said.

“Cruising, whether it be ocean or river, provides a variety of options for all budgets and desires.

“With more than 160 flights a week from nine cities across Australia and New Zealand, SIA is pleased to have worked alongside the Cruise Industry to ensure our mutual customers not only reach their cruise, but get there in comfort thanks to our famous Singapore Airlines service.

“We look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with the industry and providing even more options to sell cruise packages with the option of a journey on SIA.”

To be presented at a black-tie dinner at The Star Sydney, the annual Cruise Industry Awards will honour the top achievers of CLIA’s Australasian travel agent community. As the event’s headline supporter, Singapore Airlines will also sponsor the evening’s welcome drinks.

CLIA’s Executive Partner program brings together organisations with a common ambition to support and develop the international cruise industry. Partners include port authorities, tourism bodies, airlines, cruise line suppliers and other organisations supporting the global cruise sector.
