Award finalists named ahead of sold-out celebration

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has announced the finalists for the 19th annual Cruise Industry Awards, to be presented at a sold-out celebration next month. A total of 71 finalists from across Australia and New Zealand have been chosen and will be in the running to win one of cruising's highest honours when the industry comes together for its biggest night of the year on February 15.

Busy year of cruise education for travel agents

Australian and New Zealand travel agents have finished a busy year of professional development, completing more than 23,000 online training modules in the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Learning Academy during 2019. The annual tally brings the total number of modules completed by CLIA members to more than 114,000 since the online training platform was launched in late 2014.

Shipping sector's US$5b plan to cut emissions

The proposal includes core funding from shipping companies across the world of about US$5 billion over a 10-year period.

CLIA LIVE training events expanded for 2020

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia will expand its successful CLIA LIVE training program in 2020, introducing a two-day event on the Gold Coast in addition to six other cities in Australia and New Zealand. The event's debut on the Gold Coast follows the sell-out success of CLIA LIVE in 2019, with more than 650 tickets booked for events held in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Auckland, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Tasmania cruise puts agents on course for Master status

The 50 travel agents from across Australia and New Zealand took part in three days of seminar sessions as part of the 22nd annual Masters Conference, held during a week-long Princess Cruises itinerary from Sydney to Tasmania.

Cruise sector boosts economic impact to $5.2 billion

The Australian cruise industry has shown an 11.2% increase in its total value to the national economy, contributing $5.2 billion in direct and indirect output during the 2018-19 financial year. Figures released today in the latest annual Economic Impact Assessment commissioned by Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and the Australian Cruise Association (ACA) show cruise tourism continues to make a major positive impact on the economy.
