Cruise Month puts a spotlight on Expedition Cruising
October 19, 2026 – Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is celebrating Expedition Week as the third stage of its 2026 Cruise Month campaign, showcasing the growing appeal of voyages to some of the world’s most remote and untouched destinations.
CLIA Executive Director in Australasia Joel Katz said expedition cruising was opening up exciting new possibilities for travellers in all corners of the globe, as specialist operators continue to invest in advanced, purpose-built exploration ships.
“Expedition cruising is one of the most exciting growth areas in our industry, and the number of people taking these voyages has been increasing year after year,” Mr Katz said. “There is enormous global interest in discovering pristine destinations in some of the world’s most remote corners, and the global expedition cruise fleet is growing steadily to meet the demand.”
Running under the banner #LoveCruise, Cruise Month is designed to celebrate the breadth of experiences available across the cruise sector. Its four weekly themes span Ocean Cruising, River Cruising, Expedition Cruising and Luxury Cruising, each showcasing the diversity of holidays on offer.
The campaign will also highlight the benefits of booking through a cruise specialist travel agent, encouraging travellers to seek expert advice and connect with a certified CLIA member when planning their next cruise.
CLIA will mount an extensive social media campaign for this year’s Cruise Month, involving imagery and videos on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. The campaign will invite travellers to explore cruise options through CLIA-certified travel agents, who have been equipped with a Cruise Month toolkit that includes the latest promotions and opportunities available from cruise lines.
Australian and New Zealand travellers can visit www.cruising.org.au and use the Find a Cruise Specialist search function to connect with a CLIA cruise specialist travel agent in their local area.
