Nine spectacular new ships make their debut in CLIA online showcase

Nine of the most anticipated new cruise ships of 2025 will be showcased in an online education series for Australasian travel agents hosted next month by CLIA. The 2025 Ocean Debut Virtual Showcase will introduce the spectacular new fleet of ships due for launch this year, each offering new opportunities for cruise specialist travel agents and exciting new choices for cruise guests.

Maritime Leader Bud Darr Appointed CLIA President and CEO

CLIA announced today that its Global Executive Committee has appointed Charles Bud Darr as President and Chief Executive Officer effective February 3, 2025. Darr succeeds Kelly Craighead, who, earlier this year, announced her plans to leave the organisation at year's end.

Albatros Expeditions partners with CLIA in Australasia

Expedition operator Albatros Expeditions has partnered with CLIA to support its presence in Australia and New Zealand, joining as a Regional Cruise Line in Australasia. The partnership brings Albatros Expeditions into CLIA's wider Australasian cruise community, made up of cruise lines from around the world, travel agent members, and executive partners representing ports, destinations, tourism operators, and industry suppliers.

Australian cruise passenger numbers recover

The number of Australians taking holidays at sea has overtaken pre-pandemic levels, according to new data released today by CLIA. Figures for 2023 show the number of Australians who took an ocean cruise during the calendar year reached 1.25 million, slightly above the 1.24 million who sailed in 2019.
