Cruise Month sets out on the world's great rivers
October 13, 2025 – New ships, new itineraries and a wealth of new experiences have made river cruising one of the most innovative areas in travel, setting the tone for the next phase of Cruise Lines International Association’s (CLIA) annual Cruise Month campaign.
As the second of Cruise Month’s weekly themes, River Cruising will take the focus this week in CLIA’s expanded program of social media activity, digital advertising, educational opportunities and other initiatives designed to celebrate cruising.
CLIA Managing Director in Australasia said River Cruising had developed into one of the most exciting areas of cruising, driven by increasing popularity among travellers.
“In recent times we’ve had a succession of new announcements in river cruising, including spectacular new ships, new rivers and destinations to explore, and new cruise lines entering the sector,” Mr Katz said. “It’s an exciting time in river cruising, and the result is a much greater variety of experiences available to travellers.”
Under the banner #LoveCruise, this year’s Cruise Month activities will showcase the huge diversity of cruise lines and experiences available in each of four weekly themes – Ocean Cruising, River Cruising, Expedition Cruising and Luxury Cruising.
Initiatives will highlight the advantages of booking a cruise through a cruise specialist travel agent, and will encourage consumers to connect with a certified CLIA member.
Other highlights of Cruise Month will include special cruise editions in weekend travel sections, a bigger-than-ever webinar program for CLIA travel agents, new river and expedition cruise Spotlight Sessions to create new learning resources for agents, and weekly Cruise Month specials emailed to CLIA travel agent members.
A Cruise Month toolkit is available to help CLIA members mount their own marketing initiatives, offering downloadable resources including logos, videos, social media tiles, digital banners, posters, customisable flyers, special offers and promotions, and other marketing assets.
