Cruise industry stars shine at 23rd annual CLIA Awards

The brightest stars of the Australasian cruise community have been named at a record-breaking 23rd Cruise Industry Awards in Sydney, where close to 600 guests gathered on the weekend to celebrate the strength of the international cruise community. Held by CLIA at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney on Saturday, the gala dinner and presentation night was the largest event of its kind ever mounted by the Australasian cruise industry.

Gavin Smith joins Cruising Hall of Fame at 23rd annual CLIA Awards

Longstanding cruise line executive Gavin Smith has been inducted into the industry's Hall of Fame at the 23rd annual Cruise Industry Awards for Australasia, honouring his leadership in the development of the region's cruise sector over many decades. At a gala celebration in Sydney hosted by CLIA on Saturday, Mr Smith was announced as the 20th member of the Hall of Fame by Peter Little, the Chairman of CLIA in Australasia and Senior Vice President & Country Manager for Carnival Corporation.

Cruise tourism delivers A$7.32 billion economic impact for Australia

Continuing demand for cruise holidays has delivered A$7.32 billion in economic benefits to the national economy and supported more than 22,000 Australian jobs during 2024-25, according to an economic impact report commissioned by Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and the Australian Cruise Association (ACA). Released today, the annual assessment shows amongst the highest annual economic impact ever seen in Australia, driven by sustained levels of passenger spending in destinations around the country.
