Record spending highlights importance of cruising to New Zealand economy

Record levels of cruise ship expenditure revealed today by Stats NZ have highlighted the enormous opportunity cruise tourism presents for the New Zealand economy, according to Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). The latest Cruise Ship Traveller Expenditure report from Stats NZ shows total cruise expenditure in New Zealand was NZ$569.8 million in the year to June 30, 2019, an increase of 28 per cent on the previous year.

Cruise Industry Welcomes Eden Expansion

The international cruise industry has welcomed a $44 million investment in the Port of Eden on the NSW South Coast, which will help bring further growth in one of Australia's most successful regional cruise destinations. The extension of the port's wharf has been completed in time for the 2019-20 cruise season and will allow larger ships of up to 325m in length to visit Eden without having to bring passengers ashore by tender boats.

Cruise industry and City of Dubrovnik partner for destination stewardship

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and the City of Dubrovnik have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to preserve and protect the cultural heritage of Dubrovnik through responsible tourism management and to help establish Dubrovnik as a model of sustainable tourism in the Adriatic region and beyond.The MOU signed by CLIA President CEO Kelly Craighead and City of Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic focuses on investment, collaboration and best practices for long-term destination management to the benefit residents and visitors alike.

A lifetime of adventure cruising: Cruise360 to take insight from expedition leader
